Horizon Health Services, Inc. (HHS), founded in 1979, is a non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that provides primary medical care, dental care, behavioral health, and pharmacy services to residents of rural Sussex, Surry, Southampton, and Isle of Wight Counties and the City of Franklin in Southeastern Virginia. HHS operates three (3) primary care medical offices (Waverly Medical Center, Ivor Medical Center, Surry Medical Center), one (1) dental office (Ivor Dental Center), and one (1) open-door retail community pharmacy (Horizon Pharmacy).
The Ivor Dental Center was opened in 2007. The office is located in the small town of Ivor, Virginia, adjacent to HHS' Ivor Medical Center. The Ivor Dental Center has three (3) operatories and is equipped with digital x-ray technology and intra-oral cameras. This is a small, busy office that provides space for one dentist, one dental hygienist, two dental assistants, an office manager, and front office staff. This office accepts Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurances, and serves all patients regardless of ability to pay. Services offered include, but are not limited to, basic dental exams/screenings, oral prophylaxis, oral health education, fluoride treatments, dental sealants, fillings, extractions, crowns, bridges, and dentures.
